The Alaskan Leather Company is a relatively new brand, but it is already making positive waves across the globe with a vision: offering quality leather pieces to fashion lovers at affordable prices. The name was born when the founder came across an article, sharing the story of a native Alaskan woman (Ada Blackjack) who survived for two years on Wrangel Island all alone – the inspiration he needed to build leather pieces that are tough, strong and hardwearing.
Each of their pieces (jackets, bags and accessories) is lovingly crafted in Karachi, Pakistan, which has a thriving Leather manufacturing industry.
For the purpose of my review, I will share my thoughts on the eye-catching Haydos Leather Jacket –

The Haydos jacket boasts an undeniably striking appearance – something different from the typical leather styles on the market (such as a biker, bomber or racer). The Alaskan Leather Company has combined a cold-weather puffer jacket design with top-tier 100% sheepskin leather, ensuring you stay warm during the colder seasons thanks to its insulated construction and high collar and zipper closure.
The jacket offers a sleek, understated aesthetic that looks simple, clean, yet effective, displaying an attractive silhouette when worn. The cognac-brown colour provides an almost vintage vibe, a great alternative to the traditional black leather many people gravitate towards.
Minimalism is key with the Haydos – no external branding, just two side pockets for your essentials (for your hands when the temperature drops). Internally, there is a single pocket for your phone or wallet, which sits against the complementary light brown lining.

Snug (without appearing too tight), and allowing me the full range of movement easily – one of the best tests is to see if you can raise your arm in a leather jacket, and it was no problem wearing the Haydos!

In order to acquire a quality leather jacket, you typically need to open your wallet wider than with other fabrics (such as cotton or polyester). However, this doesn’t mean you need to spend thousands (the general price tag of designer styles) – the Haydos jacket sits just north of $200, which is more than a reasonable price point for a stylish leather number. The quality on offer, along with its visual appeal, makes this purchase an easy decision!
